You could probably run it on an svg-enabled smartphone these days and it would still work. The project failed because of arguments over the scope - not because of the application's technical capabilities...GamesBookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08822273243607808813noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8779027097922009803.post-49382105297937838732009-05-12T02:24:00.000-07:002009-05-12T02:24:00.000-07:00If the images do not require animation you can jus...If the images do not require animation you can just serialize the images to png or jpeg for instance. At the first project i ever did with SVG we used animated images for mobile network visualization. It showed extra information if you hovered over the network elements. It also offered hyperlinks to detailed information pages. It was the coolest project i've ever done but we were using the adobe plugin. I guess you're right why the need for a plugin to get all SVG functionality working is a real showstopper ;-(<br /><br />Cheers,<br />RobbyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08988603608690509267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8779027097922009803.post-22109775761971697302009-05-12T02:08:00.000-07:002009-05-12T02:08:00.000-07:00Unfortunately, the list of "most browsers" does no...Unfortunately, the list of "most browsers" does not include most versions of IE (and does not seem likely that the upcoming IE8 does either?) - this has effectively blocked the mainstream adoption of SVG in web browsers (its a different story on cell phones). I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to figure why Microsoft would not adopt a Web standard...GamesBookhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08822273243607808813noreply@blogger.com
